FEATURED WORKSHOPS - September 28 thru October 4, 2014:
Cherokee "Double-Wall" Basketweaving
• Old Master Painting Workshop (Instructor: Sharon Irla) -
This includes all workshop materials, plus five, 3-4 hour, Old Master painting workshops with individualized instructive critque. We will be using fast-drying
Griffin Alkyd oil colors. Unlike regular oils, alkyd oils start to dry in about 3hrs. By the following afternoon session, your canvas will be dry enough for
the next session. Supplies provided include portable or tabletop easel, Odorless Turpenoid, primed canvas, sun-thickened linseed oil,
brushes (you're welcome to bring your favs), paper towels, pallette, painting knives, Windsor Newton Liquin, Griffin Alkyd Oil
paints (see colors), and chocolate (your welcome to bring your favs). NOTE: To allow adequate time for
personal instructive attention, only a limited number of workshop spaces are available, so are early registration is highly recommended.
• Cherokee Double-Wall Basket Weaving Workshop
(Guest Artist Instructor: Katherine Rackliff) -
This includes 3-Morning sessions and materials.
• Included Meals: -
Six delicious Continental Breakfasts, 5 soupe du jour with freshly baked bread, and 5 evening meals, catered by Emily's Tearoom; and/or, making our own home-made, brick oven-fired pizza creations with
fresh veggies from their organic garden; or, something savoury from their onsite, Brazilian Churrasco rotisserie grill. There are also several unique restaurants around the lake to your tantalize your tastedbuds.
Arrive Sunday afternoon to a welcome-pizza gathering. Workshops start Monday. 10am to 5pm. Mornings are open for Yoga, meditation, therapeutic massage,
Cherokee double-wall basketweaving workshop, walking trails, kayaking, photography and/or taking in some Cherokee cultural arts. Old Master painting workshop
is from 1:30 pm to 4:30. Sunday will be brief gathering for breakfast before checking out. Some may want to head out early and some may want to linger and enjoy
the fall ambiance for a bit longer. Check out is at 11 am.
•Option #1 - Beginner Yoga with Dena Coleman: $15/session -
Start your morning with a gentle yoga class to loosen your body, relax your mind, and renew your spirit.
These classes are suitable for everyone and are specifically designed to help you open to your creativity and your divine spark within!
Dena Coleman is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor. She is also an Artist/musician who loves to encourage creativity!
You will need to bring a mat for Yoga and comfortable stretchy clothing.
•Option #2 - Therapeutic Massage: $30/1/2hr -
By the highly sought Massage Therapist, Marnie Cope of Alive & Well Massage in Tahlequah, OK.
Lodging: $75/night
Our retreat hosts will be Pat & Janie at the Blue Doors At Tenkiller, which is reserved exclusively for this retreat. To fully appreciate the natural beauty of this 120 acre property, you might want to bring a pair of walking shoes and appropriate tromping-thru-the-woods attire.
